Octopus Wifi v 2.0. Release Notes

Octopus Wifi v 2.0. Release Notes

On October 14, 2021, Blue Octopus will release the update to version 2.0 of the Octopus Platform. The upgrade window will be between 07:00 and 07:30 and in principle does not affect the service.

NEW FUNCTIONALITIES

Change of the platform layout: New Configuration and Administration menus for a more intuitive management, and change of concepts "AdinWifi" and "WifiArea" to "Marketing" and "Localization" respectively.

Organizations: New organization element in the platform that will be associated with a Client/Project, either monosite or multise. Each organization can be configured independently and different topologies can be defined in it, as well as all its associated elements.

Organization selector: A selector is added for organizations, allowing to abstract the management of the platform for each customer / project.

Context selector: Allows to select between several elements of an organization, such as analytics, in a more intuitive way to switch between different elements (locations, groups of locations, WLAN groups, WLAN, ...).

Licensing adaptation: The licensing concept is associated to an organization instead of to individual locations. The contracted modules, maximum number of elements associated to the license, start and end date, etc; are global concepts and for each location a number of elements (Access Points or rooms) will be assigned, which should not exceed the maximum of the organization.

Realm element: In the configuration section this element will appear, which allows to create a single authentication unit in the Radius server and, therefore, the users/devices associated to the locations belonging to it, will be able to roam. In addition, each realm will have a group of locations automatically associated to it for statistical purposes, permissions, etc.

Change in role editing: Greater clarity in the possibility of selecting permissions (read and write) and there will be 3 types of profiles to cover all the administration possibilities. Partner Administrator roles (global management users for partners), client generic roles (generic roles that can be associated to clients) and Client Aministrator roles (with the possibility of being managed by the customers themselves).

Changes in user edition: Easier selector of the elements where access permissions and new identification fields will be established. In addition, it will not be possible to save new users with a minimum security level of "good" in the password.

Time extension of mac caching time: The maximum mac caching time for access methods is extended to 12 months. For form, social networks and accept conditions the maximum time remains 1 month.

Additional field "Customer ID" in locations: Editable field in the locations to configure a unique location ID customizable by customer, and this facilitate the mapping of data in the integrations.

Surveys: Open response: Possibility to include in the survey an open response or comments at the end of the rating questions. It will be visible in the list of answers.

Surveys: Styles: Possibility of editing the main styles of a survey, as well as being able to assign those of a captive portal already configured.

DNI field in the export of users: The DNI field is added in the export of registered users.

Google login warning in CNA: The login with Google Accounts is not allowed in the Captive Network Assistant (CNA) of iOS and Android. In this sense and since it is not possible to correct it, a warning is shown with the steps to be able to make the connection in each type of device.

Priority change in portal campaign editing: In the event that two campaigns overlap in a WLAN, the one with the highest priority (highest digit) will always appear. In case of overlapping several campaigns with the same priority, they would appear randomly, where all of them would have the same probability of appearing.
